Vít Pászto is a graduate of Palacky University in Olomouc where he gained his Ph.D. degree in the field of geoinformatics and cartography in 2015. He has worked at the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of Moravian Business College Olomouc as a senior lecturer since 2013. He is the current Chair of the Academic Senate. He has been abroad for work/study stays many times, for example to the prestigious University College of London (UK), the Norwegian School of Economics (Norway) and the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). His expertise includes geocomputation methods, the analysis of spatial data and spatial economics. He is the author of several scientific papers in significant scientific journals as well as of two books. He is also a member of three scientific societies (the Czech Geographic Society, the Czech Association for Geoinformation and the Czech Cartographic Society). He has participated in numerous projects and the latest is the Erasmus + Strategic Partnership Program focused on Spationomy with the goal to interconnect geoinformatics and economics. He is active in popularizing science among the public, especially in the area of the geographical sciences.
