Expert supervisor, academic staff – associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics
Petr Čermák was born on 26th November, 1970 in Opava. He studied the grammar school in Opava, then, in 1997, he completed his Master´s studies in the field of Medical Electronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, at the Department of Measurement and Control Technology of the Technical University in Ostrava. He finished his doctoral studies in the field of Technical Cybernetics in 2001. In 2003, he joined the expert staff at the Department of Informatics at the Philosophy and Science Faculty of the Silesian University in Opava where he became a manager of both the Department of Information and Knowledge Systems and the robotics laboratory. In 2006, he was promoted to the position of associate professor in the field of Technical Cybernetics. His research activity on various projects led to his cooperation with Moravian Business College in Olomouc. The cooperation became more intensive in 2016 when he began to work as an associate professor and supervisor.
His research focuses on the area of modelling complex systems, processing medical images, softcomputing and robotics. He published more than 50 works and 20 projects of either research or applied character.
Managing the robotics laboratory enables him to perform educational and enlightenment activities in the area of robotics and autonomous systems, not only at universities, but also at high schools. Other activities included the realization of a system for teleradiological consultation based on DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) and other applied scientific projects.
